Figurative Perspectives, exhibition at Julie Nester Gallery

Figurative Perspectives
Featuring Sculptures by Tor Archer and Paintings by Daniel Ochoa
Opening Reception: December 29, 5:30-8pm
DANIEL OCHOA
The evocative figurative paintings from Daniel Ochoa show an artist that is adept at translating the mood of the subject, while his use of abstraction within his process provides a veil of ambiguity and gesture.  Historically, Ochoa’s work has been heavily influenced by his experiences growing up in a bicultural and bilingual household.
Continuing to work within this perspective, Ochoa's new developments are the use of pixel emulation and writing in Spanish and English within the layers of paint. The work is about personal identity and shifting perspectives.  The plurality of the imagery is apparent as the pixel, writing, abstraction and realistic rendering coexist within the layers of paint.
